SGI spokesperson Tyler McMurchy has confirmed to 650 CKOM that the Crown insurance provider’s system is back up and running for online customers and insurance brokers.
The outage impacted those trying to register their vehicles and get driver’s licences.
Earlier Friday, a listener told 650 CKOM they had been unable to register their vehicle by phone with an insurance broker or online at renewmyplates.com with SGI.
Two insurance companies in Saskatoon — Cherry Insurance and Galon Insurance — confirmed the SGI portal was down and said transactions for SGI matters could not be completed.
SGI confirmed the system was down just after 10:30 a.m. Friday.
