A Regina woman was allegedly assaulted and menaced with a gun after shouting at a driver who nearly hit a pedestrian.
According to police, the incident happened Friday at about 7 p.m. Officers were called to Arthur Street after getting a report that a man had punched a woman.
“Police arrived on scene and spoke to the victim, an adult female, who stated that she saw a male nearly strike a pedestrian with his vehicle,” Regina police said in a statement.
“She yelled at the male, who then got out of his vehicle and assaulted the victim. The male then got back into his vehicle, pointed a firearm at the victim, and drove away.”
Police said officers caught up with the driver about 90 minutes later, and saw his vehicle “driving erratically and at high speeds.”
While the driver wasn’t arrested Friday, police said he was nabbed on warrants for an unrelated matter the following day.
Police said the 36-year-old Regina man is now charged with assault, dangerous driving, using an imitation firearm during an offence and breaching probation orders.
