Residents of southwestern Saskatchewan were watching the sky Tuesday.
Just after 11 a.m., Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for the area around Carmichael, saying it was tracking a thunderstorm that might have been producing a tornado. The warning was lifted about 15 minutes later.
Tornado watches were in place throughout the day for other areas in the southwest, including regions around Leader, Gull Lake, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie and Cypress Hills. Those were lifted just after 6 p.m.
As of 6 p.m., severe thunderstorm watches remained in place for areas around Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Coronach, Leader, Gull Lake, Swift Current, Herbert, Cabri, Kyle and Lucky Lake.
