The man accused of killing Misha Pavelick made his second court appearance Monday in Regina Youth Court.
The 34-year-old man, who was charged with second-degree murder on June 24 after a 17-year investigation, does not have a lawyer yet. His case was adjourned to Aug. 21.
During his appearance Monday, the man wore a black graphic t-shirt, shorts and sneakers. He held a hat in his hands as he spoke to the judge.
The name of the accused cannot be published under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act as he was a youth at the time of the killing.
Misha’s father, Lorne Pavelick, was in attendance for the court appearance. The senior Pavelick, who was accompanied by friends and family members, declined to speak to reporters after the hearing.
Misha Pavelick was 19 when he was stabbed to death near Regina Beach on May 21, 2006, after a fight broke out at a high school party. During a media conference when the charges were announced, the RCMP didn’t share the motive for the stabbing.
