Former Saskatchewan Roughriders offensive lineman Gary Brandt has died at the age of 80.
Born in Moose Jaw, Brandt grew up in Regina. According to his obituary, he played football with the University of Washington Huskies before joining the Roughriders in 1967.
Brandt played 11 seasons with the Roughriders. He was inducted into the CFL team’s Plaza of Honour in 2002.
He’s survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan, three children and three grandchildren.
“Wherever Gary lived he made friendships that continued into his final days with us,” his obituary said.
