A 35-year-old man is facing charges after a wild ride that police said went down grid roads and through fields south of Regina.
Regina police said that Monday at around 3:15 a.m., officers saw a vehicle that had been reported stolen during a break-and-enter Sunday afternoon.
Police said officers watched as the driver headed west on 13th Avenue to the edge of the city before eventually heading east on the Trans-Canada Highway, eluding a spike belt laid out by officers.
“The driver continued to evade police, driving erratically down various grid roads and in fields south of the city,” the police said in a media release. “Officers followed from a distance and arrested the driver after he lost control of the vehicle on Highway 6.”
The man was charged with dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer and failure to comply with the conditions of a release order.
He was to make his first court appearance Monday.
