One of Regina’s two deputy police chiefs will be taking over the top job on a temporary basis.
According to the Regina Board of Police Commissioners, Deputy Chief Dean Rae will take on the role of interim police chief starting Monday. Rae has served with the Regina Police Service for more than 30 years, holding a deputy chief role since 2014.
The board is currently searching for a replacement for Evan Bray, who stepped down as chief at the end of June following a seven-year stint as chief.
“An independent search firm is currently engaged in the hiring process for a new Chief,” the board said in a statement. “This is expected to take several months. Deputy Chief Rae will remain in the acting role until the new Chief is selected.”
