Over 3,000 stuffed animals were tossed onto the ice.
A fire broke out Thursday night at the City of Moose Jaw’s sanitary landfill located east of the city.
Ryan Hopkinson, the acting senior captain of the Moose Jaw Fire Department, said the fire was so large it took firefighters almost six hours to put it out.
“The call came in … just after 8 o’clock. We dispatched two trucks to it,” he said. “It was quite a big fire … City crews were using different bulldozers and skid steers and stuff like that to help move the garbage, so we could put out the fire … They ended up finishing at around (1:30 a.m.)”
It’s unclear how the fire started.
