With the actual election day still later on this week, thousands of voters have already made their way to the polls in the Regina-area byelections.
According to numbers from Elections Saskatchewan, 5,356 people cast their ballots in the first four days of advance voting: 1,268 in the Lumsden-Morse riding, 1,886 in Regina Coronation Park, and 2,203 in Regina Walsh Acres.
Numbers from the 2020 general election show 38,145 eligible voters in those ridings. That puts Regina Walsh Acres at the highest advance turnout so far with about 18 per cent.
All three ridings had previously been Saskatchewan Party seats, but both Regina Coronation Park and Regina Walsh Acres had been held by the NDP before the 2011 election — including Coronation Park for 25 years.
Advance voting was set to continue Tuesday with polls open from noon to 8 p.m. and final voting was set for election day on Thursday.
