A 31-year-old man facing a charge of attempted murder after a shooting on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation has been found and arrested.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, the suspect was arrested without incident at a home on the Cree Nation on Sunday afternoon. A search of the home uncovered six guns, police noted.
The man was wanted in connection with a shooting that police said took place outside an Ahtahkakoop home on Aug. 8. Police said the shooting left the victim seriously injured, and he was airlifted to hospital by STARS for treatment.
According to the RCMP, the 31-year-old is now facing charges of attempted murder, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and two counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited.
The RCMP said another man, a 32-year-old resident of Ahtahkakoop, was arrested at the same time on outstanding warrants for charges including assault causing bodily harm.
The Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is located about 70 kilometres west of Prince Albert.
