A 16-year-old boy is facing charges – including impaired driving – after a vehicle crashed into a building early Saturday in Regina.
Police said the incident happened just after 12:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of 10th Avenue, west of Lewvan Drive. Officers responded after police got a call that a vehicle had hit a building and the driver was running away.
When officers arrived, they found that the vehicle had indeed hit the building, but also had hit and ruptured a natural gas line and had run into a light standard as well.
Police found the suspect after a quick search of the area.
The police media release didn’t say if the building was a house or a business and how much damage it sustained.
The teen – who can’t be named under terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act – was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a conveyance, exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol within two hours of operating a conveyance, failure to stop after an accident, and failure to comply with conditions.
He made his first court appearance Monday.
