Regina Police say charges have been laid against an 18-year-old in connection with the death of 53-year-old Lionel Gary Schaffer.
Back on July 24, 2021 at 1:30 a.m., police were called to a back alley on the east 800 block of Queen Street where Schaffer was located. He was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation by the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit has now found that death to be a homicide.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested the 18-year-old on Saturday and have charged him with manslaughter and failure to stop at an accident which results in death.
Because the 18-year-old was a youth when the offence happened, he cannot be named.
The male is expected to appear in court on Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
