A Regina woman is facing multiple charges after fleeing from police at a “high rate” of speed Tuesday evening.
According to a news release, Regina Police Service’s Aerial Support Unit (ASU) found a vehicle related to a recent investigation about an assault with a weapon.
After the ASU alerted officers on the ground of the vehicle’s location, a 27-year-old was pulled over for a traffic stop on Albert Street near 1st Avenue.
“A patrol officer approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, confirmed the identity of the driver and informed the female driver she was under arrest for assault with a weapon,” the release stated.
“The female drove away from police at a high rate of speed. ASU followed the vehicle from the air as it continued driving down Albert Street. Due to heavy motorist and pedestrian traffic in the area, ASU waited until the vehicle was parked to guide patrol officers to its location,” the release continued.
Patrol officers along with members of the Canine Unit attended the 700 block of Robinson Street as ASU told ground officers the woman was hiding nearby. She was found by the Canine Unit and taken into custody.
According to the release, the police service dog did not make contact with the suspect.

- and fail to comply with condition of release order
