Police in Saskatoon say a 14-year-old girl was threatened with a weapon and sexually assaulted in a hospital bathroom.
According to police, officers were called to Hospital Drive early Wednesday afternoon for a report of a sexual assault that “had just occurred.”
Police didn’t name the hospital where the alleged assault occurred, but the address corresponds with both Royal University Hospital and the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.
“The victim, a 14-year-old girl, reported to hospital security that an unknown man had threatened her with a weapon before taking her to a washroom where he unlawfully confined and sexually assaulted her,” police said in a statement.
University of Saskatchewan security had already found and detained a suspect before officers arrived, police said.
The suspect, a 43-year-old man from Black Lake who was not named by police, is now facing charges of sexual assault with a weapon, sexual interference and unlawful confinement.
Police noted that the man was not carrying a weapon at the time of his arrest.
