Despite social media posts suggesting Saskatchewan Roughriders season tickets are skyrocketing in price next year, the team says 2024 season ticket prices are going up by only two per cent.
“With cost living rising, we have done our utmost to keep season tickets affordable for our fans, with the average 2024 season ticket price increasing just two per cent,” a spokesperson for the team said in an email.
Posts shared on social media suggested season tickets were going up by as much as 20 per cent next year, but according to the team that price difference may be due to the end of a multi-year promotion. The team noted that “a limited number” of season ticket holders are coming off the team’s three-year “MVP plan,” which included a price freeze.
“Those who signed up for that program during its first year (2021) have not seen a price increase since 2019, aside from when the government began applying a six per cent PST to entertainment tickets last year,” the team spokesperson noted.
“These fans are eligible to reenroll in the MVP plan this year and receive similar perks and price freezes over the next three years.”
The team also noted that youth pricing will be back in 2024, at half the cost of standard adult tickets.
The season ticket renewal period launches Oct. 25, the team’s spokesperson noted, and anyone with questions was encouraged to contact the Rider Ticket Office.
The Roughriders are in action Friday night in Calgary, taking on the Stampeders in an effort to secure a spot in the CFL playoffs.
