A Regina high school was locked down Thursday afternoon after police were told about a person with a gun in the vicinity.
According to police, Balfour Collegiate was placed in secure-the-building mode after the report, which came in at around 1:15 p.m.
“It is believed that the person revealed a firearm to a student, then left,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
Just after 3 p.m., police said Glen Elm Community School also had been put into secure-the-building mode “due to a police operation in the area of the 1500 block of Bond Street.”
“This operation is related to the earlier Balfour incident,” police added.
Just after 3:30 p.m., police said they had a suspect in custody and both schools had lifted their restrictions.
No other details were released.
