Man charged in Regina’s eighth murder of 2023

A 48-year-old man has been charged in connection with the eighth murder of 2023 in Regina.

Regina police said Roy Julius Dennis Sayer had been arrested Sunday and charged with second-degree murder. He was to make his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Monday.

Police responded to the 1900 block of Montreal Street shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Saturday for a call about an injured man lying outside a house. Officers and paramedics found the man, who was badly hurt.

The victim, a 61-year-old man, was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries. Police didn’t say what kind of injuries the man had sustained, nor did they release his name.

Sayer was arrested the next day.
