After enjoying an above-average November, the first few days of December have already produced record temperatures.
According to Environment Canada, four communities broke temperature records on Tuesday.
- Coronach 10.1 C (previous record of 9.6 C set in 2012)
- Elbow 8.6 C (8.1 C, set in 1999)
- Lucky Lake 8.7 C (8.4 C, set in 1999)
- Rockglen 9.0 C (8.9 C, set in 2012)
Cypress Hills tied the 1988 record of 12 C, while Maple Creek turned back to the clock to summer with the mercury hitting 18 C.
That was not record for the town in southwest Saskatchewan, but for a short time Wednesday morning it was the hot spot in all of Canada.
Wednesday will see temperatures in the province climb above 0 C again, however it won’t last.
The weather office says a system developing in Alberta will bring a mix of precipitation – rain, risk of freezing rain and snow to the southern half of the province on Thursday.
