A Regina doctor is facing fraud and theft charges after an investigation by the Regina Police Service’s Financial Crimes Unit.
According to police, the investigation into Dr. Oghenerukevwe Ugwumba began after the Ministry of Health reported what it believed to be billing irregularities. Police say the alleged offences happened between 2016 until 2019.
In a release, police said Ugwumba, 53, turned herself into police on Nov. 27. She was charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, identity theft and criminal breach of trust.
Ugwumba is to make her first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 10.
