After struggling with cancer, Brutus the Rottweiler was put down on Saturday.
Brutus was terminally ill with lymphoma and his owner, Kelly Yahnke, had decided to honour him by setting the goal of giving Brutus 1,000 pets before he passed away.
Brutus and Yahnke had been hosted by the Pet Valu at the Southland Mall for several appearances, allowing people to come and visit Brutus.
They had appeared Pet Valu on Saturday as well, but Pet Valu announced that Brutus wasn’t feeling well and had been taken to the vet.
Later that afternoon, both Yahnke and Pet Valu confirmed that Brutus had been put down.
Brutus was five years old.
