The RCMP has started an investigation into a suspicious death after human remains were found on the Red Pheasant Cree Nation.
On Thursday, the Mounties said the remains were found outside a house on the Cree Nation on Monday. A search by RCMP Search and Rescue members found more evidence in a treed area along a roadway.
An autopsy done Wednesday identified the remains as those of 44-year-old Candie Pritchard of Rabbit Lake.
“The autopsy and continued police investigation has determined her death is suspicious,” the RCMP said in a release. “Investigators are releasing Candie’s name to help further their investigation.”
Anyone with information about Pritchard’s whereabouts between Jan. 1 and Monday was asked to call Battlefords RCMP at 306-446-1720 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The Mounties said no charges have been laid as a result of their investigation.
The Red Pheasant Cree Nation is about 40 kilometres south of North Battleford.
