A 26-year-old Sandy Bay man is facing charges after he allegedly rammed RCMP vehicles in Prince Albert late Sunday.
According to the Mounties, officers from the Prince Albert detachment got a call Sunday at around 10:20 p.m. about an attempted break-and-enter in the Rural Municipality of Buckland.
A little over an hour later, officers found a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle in a parking lot in Prince Albert.
“Officers engaged their emergency lights and approached the vehicle,” the RCMP said in a release. “The vehicle rammed the police vehicles several times. None of the officers reported injuries. One police vehicle was damaged.”
The Mounties didn’t say how many of their vehicles had been rammed.
The driver of the vehicle ran off, while a woman who was in the vehicle was arrested on a warrant from the Prince Albert Police Service.
P.A. patrol and canine officers helped the RCMP search for the driver. He was arrested early Monday.
Police subsequently determined the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Prince Albert Police Service.
The driver was charged with two counts each of assault on a police officer with a weapon and resisting a peace officer, and one count each of flight from a peace officer and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
He made his first court appearance in Prince Albert on Tuesday.
