A Regina man has been charged with arson after a garage fire that broke out Saturday east of Regina’s downtown.
The call about the fire in the 1700 block of Montreal Street came in at around 4:40 p.m., and police and Regina Fire and Protective Services crews headed to the scene.
In a release, Regina police said officers were told a man had been seen leaving the garage shortly before the fire was reported. Police searched the area and the man was arrested nearby.
“The male was identified and found to be in breach of conditions of probation,” police said. “Investigation found the male responsible for the fire, and he was charged with arson.”
The 33-year-old man made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Monday.
