More than four years later, murder and attempted murder charges have been laid on a man who was 14 years old at the time of the killing.
In 2019, 26-year-old Jeremy Bird was shot and killed on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
Police had been called early in the morning to a home on Mikisiw Drive where several shots had been fired into a camper that was parked next door.
Two men were taken to hospital by EMS – one was Bird who was pronounced dead at the hospital, the other man had injuries RCMP described as “serious but non-life threatening”.
On Saturday, a man from the La Ronge area was arrested and ended up being charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and four counts of attempted murder.
Because the man was 14 at the time of the killing he can’t be named publicly, as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
