A Friday afternoon swim was briefly interrupted as people cleared out of Maple Leaf Outdoor Pool to see the aftermath of a car crash on 14th Avenue.
What they found was a blue car completely flipped over on the street. It appeared to have hit two other parked cars before flipping — a white one and a dark blue one.
Officers at the scene say that the driver and sole occupant of the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The pool was temporarily evacuated.
A young girl who was swimming at the pool said the woman was driving strangely before hitting the cars and flipping.
“She scraped her arm, she scraped her head a little,” she said.
Another young swimmer said the same thing.
“I was in the pool with my dad but I just saw like a big thing of like dust,” said a young boy at the scene. “We weren’t sure what it was ’til everyone came over here.”
Some people at the scene suspect the woman might have had a medical emergency while she was driving. Police at the scene weren’t able to confirm this.
The owner of the white car that was struck was relieved that the woman was OK.
“As long as everyone’s safe, that’s good for me,” he said. “Cars are replaceable so everything’s good.”
The owner confirmed that his car’s left rear tire exploded during the accident and that its axle was bent.
All three cars were towed away and people were allowed back into the pool.
