July was an incredibly dry month in Saskatchewan, getting to the point of setting records in some areas.
According to Environment Canada, Estevan had the driest July in 112 years of records. The city saw two to three millimetres of rain in July, where the normal amount would have been 67.5 millimetres.
Southern Saskatchewan had to deal with drier weather, with more rain falling the further north a community is.

According to Environment Canada, Regina saw three millimetres of rain making it the third driest July in 139 years of reporting.
Saskatoon saw a bit more, 27 millimetres of rain, putting it at the 20th driest July the bridge city has seen.
The province saw a lot of sunny skies but not much for precipitation, though Environment Canada couldn’t say why. Its meteorologist also couldn’t say whether August would be the same.
The province got quite a bit of rain between May and June, making a good start for crops in some areas, but the heat and lack of moisture could spell problems for some ahead of harvest.
