Early Monday morning, a 31-year-old man from Clearwater River Dene Nation was struck and killed by a police vehicle near Buffalo Narrows.
The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has been notified and is investigating the incident.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., Buffalo Narrows RCMP received a call for service in Buffalo Narrows. The on-duty officers began travelling there from a prior call in Turnor Lake.
One of the responding officers was driving in a police vehicle on the 909 grid road.
The vehicle struck the man who was on the grid road, located in a rural area.
The officer immediately called an ambulance and provided first aid to the man until EMS arrived.
The man was declared dead on the scene by EMS. His family has been notified.
As required by The Police Act, 1990, Saskatchewan RCMP notified SIRT who will investigate the circumstances of the collision and the pedestrian’s death.
SIRT will provide further updates as the investigation continues.
