A Pilot Butte woman is facing fraud and identity theft charges after allegedly defrauding the Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services out of $47,985.44.
According to the Regina Police Service, the woman fraudulently received benefits between January of 2019 and June of this year.

“She collected income assistance benefits while falsely claiming to be unemployed,” the police service explained in a statement.
“Upon being found to be employed, she then received benefits by providing false identity information by use of the identity of others.”
Police said the 27-year-old woman is now facing a charge of fraud over $5,000, two charges of fraud under $5,000, two charges of identity theft and two charges of identity fraud.
She’s expected to appear in provincial court on October 2.
