The provincial government is investing more than $50 million to renew the aging electrical infrastructure at two Regina hospitals.
The project marks the second phase of the government’s electrical infrastructure renewal project at the Regina General and Pasqua hospitals. The first phase involved stabilizing emergency backup power supplies at both facilities, and the second phase will soon move into procurement.

“Ensuring the reliability of important infrastructure to maintain safety and security for patients and staff at the Regina General and Pasqua hospitals is a key priority for our government,” Everett Hindley, Saskatchewan’s health minister, said in a statement.
“Significant electrical components are decades old and this investment is vital to continued safe operations of these facilities so important for south Saskatchewan residents.”
Bryan Witt, vice president of provincial clinical and support services with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, said the upgrades will increase and strengthen the electrical capacity at both hospitals.
“These enhancements are essential for the future growth and long-term sustainability of our health care services, while also ensuring our hospitals can adapt to the evolving demands of modern medicine,” Witt said in a statement.
