At 5:47 p.m. on Oct. 17, Saskatchewan RCMP issued an update on a previously issued Amber Alert related to a five-day-old baby boy.
Police said the infant was located in the community of Big River and appears to be safe.
The infant was taken from a residence on Montreal Lake Cree Nation just before 2 p.m.
The alert was issued at approximately 5:08 p.m.
Shortly after that, the suspect turned himself in without incident at the Big River RCMP detachment.
Officers assessed the baby, who appeared healthy and safe. EMS was called to assess him as a precaution.
The suspect is in custody and the investigation continues.
More information will be provided once it’s available. Anyone with information can call 310-RCMP.
Editors note: This story was updated to include corrected information from the RCMP. The baby was taken from a residence on Montreal Lake Cree Nation, not the health clinic.
