A businesses was evacuated in Canora as RCMP officers investigated a suspicious package. It has now since been neutralized.
“Main Street is now open to traffic. Please note that smaller areas may be cordoned off as investigation continues. Please follow any police instruction provided,” said a news release from RCMP.
According to the RCMP, officers are checking out the package, which was found behind a business on the 300 block of Main Street.

“Businesses in the vicinity have been evacuated. Schools and daycares in the general area have enacted their hold and secure protocols,” the Saskatchewan RCMP said in a statement.
“Canora RCMP ask members of the public to avoid the Main Street area between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue at this time.”
The origin and contents of the package have not yet been determined, the Mounties noted, and the RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit is working to figure out what’s inside it and where it came from.
Anyone with information that could help the investigation was asked to contact the Canora RCMP detachment or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
Canora is located approximately 50 kilometres north of Yorkton.
