“A short time later, a patrol officer located the male suspect riding a bike,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement.
“The suspect refused to stop for the officer and turned southbound into an alleyway near St. John Street. As the patrol vehicle was turning into the alley, the suspect lost control of his bike and fell to the ground. The patrol vehicle was unable to avoid contact with the suspect and collided with the suspect at a low rate of speed.”
Police said officers arrested the man and called for paramedics.
The 30-year-old man was carrying two knives and bear mace at the time of his arrest, police said, and he was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Police said he’s now facing charges of possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and obstructing a peace officer. He’s set to make his first court appearance on Wednesday.
