Lubiniecki was entering his second season with his hometown Red Sox. He had just wrapped up his sophomore season with the Taft Cougars, where he appeared in 11 games. He recorded a win and two saves for the club in 11 innings pitched.
The former Martin Academy player helped propel the Red Sox to a first-place finish in the east division of the WCBL last season.
“The Red Sox organization would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his parents, Noel and Kim, and his brothers, Luke, Layne and Fiancée Cathy,” the team wrote on social media.
“We will play out the season with #33 in our hearts.”
The team will have a moment of silence ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Medicine Hat Mavericks at Currie Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The club is also working on a jersey patch the players will wear in Lubiniecki’s memory.
