Quick dark clouds rolled over parts of southern Saskatchewan Thursday afternoon, sparking severe thunderstorm watches and, at one point, three tornado warnings.
The warnings were near Saskatoon, Regina and Estevan.
Harold Posehn lives on a farm near Kronau. While driving on a grid road near his farm, he noticed what appeared to be a funnel cloud swirling towards his neighbour’s home.
So he decided to follow it.
“It did quite a bit of damage to the house, some sheds and storage buildings,” he said. “It looked like one of those shipping containers rammed into the house and it took shingles off the house and the siding was missing.”

But thankfully for his neighbour, their home still stands.
When driving towards his neighbour’s farm, visibility got so poor, Posehn had to pull over.
“It was quite dusty and you couldn’t see anything,” he said. “The truck was rocking pretty good.”

Environment Canada to confirm any touchdowns Friday
That’s not the only tornado that ripped through the province, Environment Canada told 980 CJME that it’s looking at three potential touchdowns.
Environment Canada’s Kyle McAulay said one potentially touched down east of Estevan and one southeast of Regina at around 5:00 p.m.
“They can vary from a couple of seconds to hours,” he said. “The one near Estevan, for example, was up and down a few times within a 30-minute window.”
As of 6 p.m. Thursday, he said, Environment Canada received no reports of a touchdown near Saskatoon, but conditions were favourable for one.
McAulay said it’s too soon to determine damages and how long the tornadoes were on the ground.
“We were watching live streams, and it’s pretty evident that they did touchdown, but we’re not able to confirm it until the proper authorities verify everything. But it’s very, very likely there was a touchdown,” he said.
McAulay said a summary with more information about the tornadoes will be available Friday.
McAulay said to always keep your phone or radio nearby for the latest weather alerts.
“When you hear a warning or if you see the storm approaching, take cover in a basement, get to the lowest point possible and stay there until the warnings end,” he said.
The storms are expected to end Thursday evening and head into Manitoba. He said the storms aren’t expected to last overnight.
