Trevor Harris‘ status continues to remain up in the air.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ starting quarterback missed a second straight practice due to an illness and a head injury. The Riders take on the B.C. Lions on Saturday at Mosaic Stadium. Kickoff for the game is set for 5 p.m. The Green Zone pregame show begins at 3 p.m.
“I think (Thursday) will be the final decision maker for (his availability),” Riders head coach Corey Mace said. “We have the luxury of tomorrow so just trying to play it smart, but tomorrow we will make the final decision on that.”

The 39-year-old quarterback was the recipient of a big hit by the Toronto Argonauts in the team’s 39-32 win.
“It was a big hit, so we kept eyes out for (a possible concussion), and protecting the players is what we are about in that situation. He’s dealing (with) some kind of infection. For this standpoint, we’re being careful with the hit to the head,” Mace said.
If Harris is unable to play, Jake Maier will start the game for the Riders. The CFL veteran saw his negotiation rights traded from the Calgary Stampeders to Saskatchewan in the offseason after spending four seasons there.
In his career, Maier has dressed for 69 games and has thrown for 11,685 yards, 60 touchdowns and 39 interceptions in his career.
He signed a contract extension with the Green and White ahead of free agency.
It would mean a lot to the quarterback to start a game in Saskatchewan after the organization gave him a vote of confidence.
“I love it here. There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by here where I am not grateful and I am not excited. It’s a breath of fresh air for me personally,” Maier said.
“Just watching the team compete for the last three weeks and feeling like a part of that has been really cool. If I have the opportunity to have that (start), it would be really special.”
The Riders are 3-0 to start the 2025 season despite the team not playing its best football through the first few weeks of the season.
“It’s still early in the year, so you’re not going to be at your best yet or not perfect yet,” Maier said.
“But I will say I think we are continuing to grow and apply the things we are taking from one game to the next. Whoever goes out there needs to put their best foot forward and hopefully it’s the best game we have played all year.”
Defensive back Tevaughn Campbell (back) was limited in practice on Wednesday. Wide receiver KeeSean Johnson returned to practice after missing Tuesday’s practice due to personal reasons.
