An 18-year-old man from the Red Earth Cree Nation is facing a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 29-year-old Gerald McKay.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers were called to a home on the Cree nation Tuesday evening after getting a report of in injured man, who was later identified as McKay.

“His death was considered suspicious in nature and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation,” the Mounties said in a statement.
“As a result of continued investigation, an adult male was arrested on Red Earth Cree Nation on June 24.”
Police said 18-year-old Cecil Whitehead is now facing a charge of second-degree murder. He was scheduled to appear in court in Carrot River on Thursday.
