The death of a woman from Big Island Lake Cree Nation at a rural property in the RM of Beaver River on July 11 is being investigated as a homicide.
Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release on July 15 that the victim is 25-year-old Juanita Wahpistikwan after saying in an earlier release that local firefighters were called to a structure fire on the property and found the woman dead.
RCMP said on Tuesday the investigation was active and ongoing, and they were unable to provide further details.
Anyone who had contact with Wahpistikwan on July 10 or 11, or anyone who has information about her death, has been asked to call Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP, their local police service or to inform Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at saskcrimestoppers.com.
