The Regina Police Service (RPS) are reminding people to lock up their vehicles to prevent theft.
Over the weekend, the RPS Aerial Support Unit was keeping an eye on the city from above when officers saw a man entering unlocked vehicles in the Westerra Neighbourhood.
The aerial team alerted ground patrols, and while they waited for crews to arrive, the team in the air watched the man go from vehicle to vehicle, checking for open doors.
“He then stole items from the ones that were unlocked. Many were not locked,” RPS said in a statement.
The man was arrested and is facing a number of charges related to the offences.

Not an isolated occurrence
RPS said it has received 53 reports of theft from vehicles in just over 30 days.
In these cases, the vehicles were either left unlocked or a window was left open.
“Nearly half of those reports came from the south east/east end of the city,” police said.
It’s reminding the public that while police do their best to prevent crime, the public has to do their part too.
RPS ask the public not to leave valuables or anything at all inside their vehicle and to take the extra few seconds to check that all doors are locked and windows are closed.
