A police officer shot and killed a dog outside a Regina home on Monday evening.
According to police, officers were called to the home on Smith Street, in the city’s Highland Park neighbourhood, at around 5:40 p.m. after a caller said two armed men were inside the home and weren’t allowing anyone to leave.

“Officers arrived on scene, established a perimeter and began to clear the residence,” the police force said in a statement.
“While this was taking place, a dog exited the residence and began to attack a (police dog).”
Police said one of the officers shot and killed the dog, and noted that the police dog was left with minor injuries.
The police force did not say whether any arrests or charges resulted from the original gun call, or whether any illegal activity was taking place at the home.
“At this time, this investigation is ongoing and there are no further details for release to the public,” the police service added.
