Shortly before 11:00 a.m. on Aug. 16, 2025, officers saw a male walking and acting suspiciously in the 13th Avenue and Osler Street area.
When the officers pulled over and tried to talk with Fiddler, he dropped his backpack and began running. Officers ran after the suspect and followed him to an empty parking lot near Victoria Avenue. When the suspect stopped running, he pulled a machete from his pants pocket and threw it at one of the officers, who was not injured.
Police took the suspect into custody without further incident and he was arrested. When police searched his backpack, they found multiple knives and a loaded firearm. The suspect was treated for minor injuries consistent with running with a machete in one’s pocket.
Fiddler was previously charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possessing ammunition contrary to a prohibition order on Sept. 19, 2022, according to an earlier Regina Police Service statement. He had been reportedly trying to steal items from a business.
He was released on an undertaking to appear in provincial court on Nov. 7, 2022.
