Team Sask diver Lila Steward and para athletic sprinter Brendan Cote-Williamson were the flag bearers at the Canada Summer Games closing ceremonies on Aug 24.
Stewart, who won three gold medals in diving at the games, said she felt proud to serve as a representative for both her province and teammates.
“I think it’s super special. I feel honoured to represent the Saskatchewan flag and represent my province,” she said.
“It was super fun being in the village and having the whole Team Sask behind me, with other sports coming and watching our events. To come away with medals is such an honour and I’m so proud to have done so well this week.”

She then won her third and final gold medal of the games in the team event, beating second-place Quebec by 48.25 points.
Para athletic sprinter Cote-Williamson won two gold medals for Team Sask at the games. He said he was proud to represent Team Sask as a flag bearer for the second time in his athletic career.
“It’s great. I was the Team Sask flag bearer for the North American Indigenous Games in 2023, so it’s nice to do it again for the second time,” he said. “The games have been so fun. Multi-sport games are always amazing.”
Cote-Williamson of Cote First Nation won gold in the T47 100m Race with a time of 11.77.
In the preliminary race, which took place on his 21st birthday, he broke his own Athletics Canada National Record with a time of 11.50.
Cote-Williamson won his second gold medal of the games on Saturday in the Para Ambulatory 400m.
The Canada Summer Games concluded on Sunday, with Team Sask winning 48 total medals: 13 gold, 14 silver and 21 bronze.
