If you’re trying to book a last-minute hotel room in Regina, it won’t be easy.
Regina Hotels Association president Sandra Jackle said on the Greg Morgan Morning Show that hotel occupancy in the Queen City is at or near capacity for the long weekend, due to a couple of events taking place in the city, including the Labour Day Classic.

“We have a sold-out Labour Day Classic. That means that our hotels are absolutely full. It’s one of the biggest weekends of the year,” said Jackle.
She said around 1,000 fans from Winnipeg come to the city for the annual rivalry game against the Riders.
“You see all the blue when you’re at the game. We like to boo them, but we’re still friendly with them. We obviously want to crush them,” she said.
Jackle said the Labour Day Classic usually adds a couple million dollars to the local economy.
“That’s a huge impact on the city because everyone’s coming to town, they’re staying in hotels, they’re going to restaurants, they’re shopping, they’re spending money in our town,” she said.
On top of the Labour Day Classic, Jackle said hotel rooms are “quite full” in Regina because of the Canoe Kayak Sprint nationals taking place over the weekend.
“If you see it looking like canoe-kayak city over at Wascana Park, it’s the nationals,” Jackle said.
She said more than 800 athletes from across the country are in the Queen City for the event.
“It’s an incredible event, and they’re coming here and they’re canoeing and kayaking, doing all their fun stuff on the lake there,” Jackle said.
“That event, along with the Labour Day Classic, has really boosted our occupancy to near capacity here in Regina this weekend.”
The Riders and the Bombers take to the field at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday for the Labour Day Classic. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m., and the Green Zone‘s pregame show starts at 3 p.m.
