The Roughriders may play in Regina, but the Bridge City is showing its Rider pride as well.
Ahead of the 60th Labour Day Classic – which will see the Riders square off against their arch rivals, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday – the City of Saskatoon has declared Friday Green & White Day as a way to show pride in the provincial CFL team.

Saskatoon will play a bigger role in the Riders’ season in 2026, as the city hosts a pre-season game in May.
“The Roughriders may play their home games in Regina, but they belong to all of Saskatchewan — and that includes Saskatoon,” Mayor Cynthia Block said in a statement.
“Declaring Green & White Day is a way for us to show our pride, our excitement for the Labour Day Classic, and our part in Rider Nation as we look forward to hosting the team here in 2026.”
The day will see a retro-styled Roughrider flag raised at Civic Square, and residents were encouraged to wear the team’s colours throughout the day.
“I’ll have my green and white ready,” Block added. “Go Riders!”
Kickoff for the Labour Day Classic is set for 5 p.m. and The Green Zone’s pregame show gets rolling at 3 p.m. on 650 CKOM and 980 CJME.
