The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) are asking the public to be cautious when answering the phone.
On Friday, the SPS Communications Unit received several reports regarding suspicious phone calls, which appeared to originate from the SPS non-emergency number.

According to the reports, the caller would identify themselves as an SPS office and request information related to a police file.
“In most instances, recipients recognized the call as suspicious and terminated the conversation,” SPS said in a statement.
SPS reminds the public that police will never ask individuals to provide personal or financial details over the phone.
The calls appear to be directed to out-of-province communities, specifically in Alberta and British Columbia.
At the time of the release, no fraud had been reported to the police.
