Starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, 980 CJME’s sister station Jack 94.5 is teaming up with City of Regina Transit to encourage people to help stuff a bus full of food in support of the Regina and District Food Bank.
“Jack 94.5 Stuff the Bus has become a cornerstone event for our food bank, and there’s no better time than now to support those facing food insecurity in our community,” said John Bailey, the food bank’s CEO.
“We are thrilled to have the event back at all Sherwood Co-op Food Stores, and we’re grateful for the ongoing support from the people of Regina who come together each year to provide crucial food and funds to support our work.”
Most needed food items
Community members can bring non-perishable food or cash donations to any Sherwood Co-op Food Store between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Pre-made “Good Buy to Hunger” bags will also be available to purchase for $10 and $15.
The items most needed by the food bank include canned soups and stews, whole-grain pastas and cereals, canned vegetables, pasta sauces, rice, beans and protein-rich items.
Monetary donations are also vital, as they allow the Regina & District Food Bank to keep shelves stocked as demand grows.
Stuff The Bus
Now in its sixth year, Jack 94.5 Stuff the Bus has become a powerful community tradition since first launching in 2019. The annual event brings together listeners, local partners and volunteers to collect food and funds for the Regina & District Food Bank.
Since its inception, Stuff the Bus has provided more than 400,000 meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity in Regina and surrounding communities.
A summary of food collected and funds raised will be shared in on Friday.
