Whitecap Dakota Nation’s Dakota Dunes Resort leads Saskatchewan nominations for the 2025 Canadian Tourism Awards.
The 155-room resort, which is located on the First Nation’s traditional territory just out of Saskatoon, pays tribute to its Indigenous heritage with its design echoing the traditional tipi.

Dakota Dunes was nominated for an Indigenous Tourism Award, and Tourism Employer of the Year and catering manager Thomas Royal Anderson was nominated for Tourism Employee of the Year as well.
Saskatoon’s Wanuskewin Heritage Park, which is a National Historic Site and also holds a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation, was also nominated for an Indigenous Tourism Award.
Also among the nine finalists from the province are Western Canada’s largest outdoor farm show Ag in Motion and Canadian Western Agribition, with both nominated for Business Event of the Year Award.
Saskatoon’s Blackstrap Glamping Resort was nominated in the Small- or Medium-Sized Business of the Year category, while Tourism Saskatchewan’s travel blogger The Saskatchewanderer as nominated for Travel Media Professional of the Year and Field to Shield tours by Adventure Destinations, guided by Métis chef Jenni Lessard, received a nod for the Culinary Tourism Experience Award.
Tourism Saskatchewan CEO Jonathan Potts said the finalists are industry leaders who strive to deliver on the promise made to their guests.
“This recognition at the national level is most deserved and shines a bright spotlight on our province.”
The Canadian Tourism Awards for will be presented in Gatineau, Québec on Nov. 20.
