Two people are facing charges after officers responding to an armed robbery call at a Saskatoon business were hit with bear spray on Sunday evening.
According to police, officers were called to a business on 22nd Street West at around 9 p.m. after an armed robbery.

“A male had entered the business, threatened employees with a gun and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was physically injured,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
About two hours later, officers were called to another business in the same block after a person matching the description of the robbery suspect was spotted inside.
“Officers arrived on scene and attempted to take the 37-year-old suspect into custody. As they were making the arrest, another male approached and deployed bear spray on the officers,” police said.
“That male, a 36 year old, ran from the scene but was brought into custody a short distance away.”
The 36-year-old man was taken to hospital after paramedics found him to be “in medical distress,” police noted.
The 37-year-old man is now facing charges of armed robbery, evading police and breaching court-ordered conditions. The 36-year-old man, meanwhile, is facing charges of assaulting a peace officer, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction, mischief and breach of probation.
Cops search for man who shot out window after trying to steal vehicle
Police in Saskatoon are searching for an armed man who allegedly shot out the rear window of a man’s vehicle after unsuccessfully attempting to steal it.
According to police, the 52-year-old victim was inside his vehicle in the 400 block of Fairmont Drive at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, when a stranger approached him.
“The male threatened the victim with a firearm and demanded his vehicle. He then shot at the rear window of the vehicle, shattering it, before fleeing on a bicycle,” the Saskatoon Police Service explained in a statement.
“The victim was not physically injured. Officers believe the firearm used was a pellet gun.”
Police said the suspect was described as roughly five-foot-10 in height, with short, dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the alleged incident.
