Pay for CEOs of three of the four biggest Crown Corporations in Saskatchewan has grown above $500,000, according to the new Crown payee disclosure report for 2024-25.
According to the report, Charlene Gavel, CEO of SaskTel, brought in $552,455 in remuneration for the last fiscal year. The report for the previous year showed $494,310, representing a nearly 12 per cent increase. However, Gavel has only held the position since August 2023.
The previous SaskTel CEO, Doug Burnett, brought in $598,776 and $555,093 for his last two years in the position.
SaskPower CEO Rupen Pandya came in second among the Crown CEOs, with $553,936 in remuneration for the year. The 2024-25 pay represents a more than 10 per cent increase over 2023-24.
Penny McCune, SGI’s CEO, brought in $531,500 in the last fiscal year. She was the only one already making over the half-million dollar mark, with $506,135 listed in remuneration for the year before.
Mark Guillet, CEO of SaskEnergy, made $479,44 in remuneration in 2024-25. That’s up from $429,658 the year before, but he took over the position in May 2023.
Kent Campbell, Crown Investments Corp. CEO made $432,923 in the last fiscal year, up from $421,638 the year before.
Susan Flett, CEO of Lotteries and Gaming Sask, had the largest increase year-over-year, from $165,046 in 23-24 to $334,508 last year, but she only became CEO in September 2023.
SaskGaming’s CEO, Blaine Pilatzke, took over the head spot in June 2024 and is listed with $276,855 in remuneration for last year.
And SaskWater had two CEOs over the last year. Doug Matthies retired at the end of 2024, and his remuneration for the year is listed at $204,217.
Jacquie Gibney became acting president and CEO in January; she had been a vice-president before that. Gibney officially took on the CEO mantle in June this year. Her remuneration for 2024-25 was listed at $212,325.
