“I was walking down Bloor Street the other day in my Jays jersey, and I think I got stopped by three or four different people just to talk about how the Blue Jays are doing. There’s a big sense of community around us, which is really fun,” she said in a phone interview with 980 CJME.
Chan-Strauss said a friend, who is also from Saskatchewan, connected her with tickets to Game 6 at Rogers Centre on Friday night.
“He wanted to make sure that he was selling them to a Jays fan,” said Chan-Strauss, who was born and raised in Regina before moving to Toronto.
She said there’s nothing that quite matches the feeling of going to a Blue Jays game, and this series is special for the whole country.
“Just the feel of being in a baseball field with thousands of other fans, and no game is ever the same,” she said.
“It’s gonna be so loud. And I would obviously love it if the Blue Jays won the World Series in Toronto, in Canada, because I feel like they’re very much Canada’s team.”
Chan-Strauss said the Los Angeles Dodgers are a very competitive team with “amazing pitching,” but she’s really hoping to see the Jays come out on top and win the series for the first time since 1993.
“It’s been 32 years, and this team is amazing, like the entire roster, and I think that those personalities, they’re all just jiving really well, and it’s really fun to watch,” she said.
If the Toronto Blue Jays win, Chan-Strauss said she expects to join in on some big celebrations.
“I’ll probably be like on the streets with everybody else, cheering and honking, and yeah, just hopefully enjoying all the festivities and stuff that’ll happen,” she said.
