Two men are facing charges for a number of weapons-related offences and possession of stolen property — including a dog — after they drove away from a traffic stop early on Monday morning.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a news release on Nov. 17 that officers attempted to stop the vehicle the men were travelling in around 1 a.m. near 19th Street West and Avenue R South but it drove off at high speed.

Police did not chase after them but another patrol saw the vehicle near Avenue W North and 33rd Street West and set up a tire deflation device, which the vehicle then drove over.
Police said it drove on with all its tires deflated until it was later found abandoned at the intersection of 33rd Street West and Matheson Drive.
Officers then used a police dog to track the men to an address in the 1000 block of Macklem Drive, where they were arrested. Police said found a loaded sawed-off shotgun, multiple rounds of ammunition, an airsoft grenade launcher and grenade, a hunting knife, an expandable baton, and identification belonging to the suspects in the abandoned vehicle.
Police said there was also a dog belonging to the registered owner of the vehicle inside and then found that the vehicle had been stolen, along with the dog, shortly before the attempted traffic stop. The dog was returned to its owner, SPS said.
The two men, age 27 and 39, were charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and numerous weapons-related offences, and the 27-year-old was also charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, evading police, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
Erratic driver charged with impaired driving
A 22-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and operating a vehicle being pursued by police, after several people reported him on Friday.
SPS said in a Nov. 17 news release, that a number of people called in around 4 p.m. on Nov. 14, reporting a driver swerving on the road and striking curbs.
Police said they found the vehicle near Airport Drive and Cynthia Street but the driver took off driving erratically when they tried to stop it.
Police said the driver then pulled into a parking lot and hit a parked vehicle and the police vehicle while attempting to park and he was arrested.
